REPBLG/STER/-G (registering)

Chad and I started registering tonight at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Wow. That was not how I thought it was going to be. I was expecting to go in there, register our names, possibly our date, get a scan gun, and go to it. That's not really what happened. We went in there, and one of the first things the lady, Amy, asks is how many people we're expecting. When we told her we're inviting 400, she said that a good rule of thumb to go by is double the number of people you're inviting, and that's the number of items you should register for. Oh. My. God. Now, admittedly, she was talking about each individual fork, glass, whatever, but still, 800 items is a lot of stuff! Especially when things are really expensive right now, and the economy is suffering...yadda yadda yadda. So anyway, they do things by brand at BB&B, which meant that we would pick one brand of, for example, utensils, and then the person helping us would scan one bar code, then later add the entire line of Oxo utensils to our registry. Then we could go online to look at our registery, and delete the things we didn't want, like one of the two graters that Oxo offers. So anyway, tonight we registered for our fine china, fine silverware (and to be honest, if we don't get either one of these, I'm fine, since I'd rather have our actual dishes and silverware), everyday dishes and silverware, utensils, baking pans, pots and pans (which I need to go back and look at and compare what I've already received to what's included in the brand we chose). So anyway, we're nowhere near done, since we still need to register for things like a toaster, a mixer, a microwave, a bedspread/comforter...basically a ton of other things. But I think we got a good head start on it, and it's actually pretty fun! This part I can get used to. :)
Plus I think Chad and I have a good system worked out, figuring out what each other likes, and finding something that is halfway between our two opinions. So far so good!
